What is Aspire?
Aspire is a more comprehensive freestyle curriculum for skaters who have progressed through the basic Learn-to-Skate levels and wish to continue improving skating skills, spins, and jumps.
When is it?
- Aspire will be held on Sundays January 5-May 4 (no class 1/19, 2/16, 3/9, 4/20)
- 11:30-12:00pm Off-Ice (upstairs) sneakers required
- 12:15-12:45 PM On-Ice Rink 1
- Parent education sessions will be held the first day of the session and periodically during the off-ice component
- Registration for the new session will open on 11/11/24 and close on 12/30/24
What does it cost and include?
- $450 for the 14 weeks of on ice instruction, off ice instruction, participation in the CIFSC Club Show in May and Parent Education
Who is eligible?
- After skaters pass Basic 6 they will be required to move to the Aspire Program.
- Skaters MUST have their own instructional-level (supportive) figure skates to participate in the Aspire program.
What are the benefits?
- Aspire is guided by a new curriculum that will ensure skaters are developing the appropriate skating skills necessary at each level to more successfully progress through the sport
- On-ice sessions will begin with 10 minutes of full-group stroking and edgework, which will also promote creativity and artistry
- On-ice sessions will then break into groups by ability for work on jumps, spins, and steps
- ONLY Aspire will be on the ice, which will increase development of speed, power, and flow that is difficult when sharing the ice with lower-level classes
- Off-ice classes will introduce general youth fitness, increase body awareness and positioning, develop flexibility and strength, and teach technique that is transferrable to the ice
- Pro-rated options for additional ice time through introductory or junior figure skating club are available and encouraged for skaters who want more practice time
- Testing and competitive opportunities are available for those interested in taking their skating to the next level
